men’s men

Hypermasculinity can be defined as an exaggerated display of stereotypically male traits — physical strength, aggression, dominance, and sexuality — often accompanied by emotional suppression and a lack of meaningful communication.

Men’s Men challenges the toxicity of these constructs and how they continue to persist in contemporary culture. Through a series of illustrative ink drawings, the work highlights the absurdity of hypermasculine ideals by targeting men who uphold and perform them. Each piece centres on a specific trait, drawing from real-life portrayals of toxic masculinity in modern media. The subjects — prominent male figures in public life — reflect how these behaviours are still platformed, celebrated, and broadcast to wider society.
