the kingdom of the blind
The Kingdom of the Blind is a series of isometric illustrations that imagine a crumbling city of crime, vandals, litter, rats and filth. Inspired by the dark humour and pessimism of John Cooper Clarke’s poetry, the work captures the rough edges of urban life with a dry, observational eye. Each illustration stands alone as a snapshot of grim British streets, but together they layer into a chaotic, interconnected cityscape. Hand-drawn architecture, grimy shop signs and scrawled graffiti combine to reflect the decay, defiance and grim humour that runs through Clarke’s world.
